Sensory Inclusion Service
The Sensory Inclusion Service (SIS) is a joint service between Shropshire Council, Telford & Wrekin Council and Health. We support children and young people who have a hearing and/or visual impairment, or a multi-sensory impairment.
Portage
Portage is a home visiting educational service for pre – school children with SEND and their families. It helps parents teach their children new skills at home under direction of the portage home visitor. The scheme specifies particular teaching techniques and curriculum of skills to be learnt.
Health
Health Visiting Service
Health visitors offer support and advice to families on a variety of topics which include promotion and management of breastfeeding, supporting new mothers with post-natal depression, parenting programmes and putting parents in touch with a variety of specialist services that can support them and their child's healthy development. New parents are also offered a newborn hearing test.
The service is delivered in a variety of ways, through home visits, telephone advice, child health clinics and the wider community.
Child Development Centres
At the Child Development Centres in Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin we provide assessment and support for children, who are under 5 years old, with additional needs, and their families. Children attend the child development centre for assessment, diagnosis, intervention and advice.

This Community Physiotherapy Team provides physiotherapy assessment, advice, treatment and rehabilitation to enable the children and young people with physical difficulties to reach their full potential by maximising function and independence.

Children's Occupational Therapy
Occupational Therapists provide advice and intervention where needed, for children who have functional difficulties with self-care, classroom activities and leisure. The website and our Facebook page have lots of advice about how to support children and young people to participate in everyday activities at home and at school.

Speech and Language Therapy
The children's speech and language therapy team offer a variety of services to support babies, children and young people in the Shropshire area. Services include speech language and communication needs, eating drinking and swallowing needs and training.
Family Support
Family Hubs
Family Hub services aim to make a positive difference to children, young people and their families by providing the right help at the right time. Family Hub Services are delivered through local centres where families can get free information, guidance and support on infant feeding, mental health, healthy lifestyles, parenting and many other services.
Family Connect
Family Connect is a free, confidential service providing, impartial advice, information, guidance and support on a full range of children's services available across the borough including childcare, activities, school admissions and finance.

On the Parent Carer Zone you will find information about local support services available to families with children or young people with SEND in Telford and Wrekin.
