What is the Record of Disabled Children and Young People?

  • The record is one of the ways that we can get important information to people who need it.
  • To gather information to help us plan services for the future.
  • The record is a database of information about the disabled child or young person and their families in Telford and Wrekin.
  • The record is held by Telford & Wrekin Council.

What are the benefits to the record?

  • You will receive an ican2 newsletter. This is a newsletter sent out 4 times a year with information about activities and events in Telford and Wrekin.
  • You will receive a monthly email bulletin which will keep you up to date with what is happening locally and nationally.
  • You can choose to receive information via post or email about activities, events and information
  • To help develop services in the local area.

Who can be on the record?

You can join if you live in Telford and Wrekin and have a child aged 19 or under who has a disabling condition that is likely to continue throughout their childhood.

A child defined as having a disability is a person with a physical or mental impairment which has a substantial and long term adverse effect on his ability to carry out normal day to day activities’.

What disabilities are included?

  • Sight or hearing impairment.
  • A learning disability.
  • A severe physical or mental illness.
  • Language or communication disorder.
  • A physical disability or difficulty in walking.
  • Autism, aspergers or ADHD.

How much does it cost to join?

There is no charge for joining the record or for any other newsletters that we may give or send to you.
