What do we do?
Core Offer
The Behaviour Support Advisory Team (BSAT) are predominantly a traded service. The team provide support and advice to schools enabling them to better manage challenging behaviour, promote inclusion and support SEMH needs. The principles of support are primarily focused on enabling staff and students to better understand and identify antecedents to behaviour, behaviour escalation cycles and appropriate support. BSAT are able to provide a catalogue de-escalation techniques and restorative approaches.
Working in line with T&W Belonging Strategy, BSAT support young people at risk of suspension or permanent exclusion. The Pre-suspension Hotline is a free service offered to all T&W schools to help drive down suspension numbers and further promote inclusion for all learners. This support is available by calling 01952 – 386380.
For students that are permanently excluded from school, BSAT provide an extensive reintegration package, free of charge.
Comprehensive Observations and Advice
BSAT conduct a range of observations and carry out 1:1 discussions with pupils to unpick and address challenging behaviours within schools. Observations support the identification of unmet needs and highlight patterns of behaviour. Observations focus specifically on highlighting behaviour antecedents to provide timely, bespoke intervention and avoid behaviours escalation and crisis incidents.
