My Education

You will need to stay in some type of full time education until you are 18 years of age, this is called the Participation Age.

You have the right to a good quality education and will be encouraged to achieve the highest level of education that you can. Your education is important. It will help you to build skills and prepare for adulthood, including being ready for work. Your education doesn’t have to stop when you reach 18 it can continue for longer depending on what skills you would like to learn.

School

School is where you go to learn, Primary School is for 5-11 year olds and Secondary School is for 11-16 year olds.

Some schools are called Academies, these are independent schools who receive their funding from central government and they manage their own admissions process, this means that you may have to sit an exam for admission.
