Colleges

Mainstream colleges offer a range of courses including A Levels, GCSE’s, Functional Skills, Apprenticeships and BTEC vocational courses. They will also include specialist courses about Personal Development where students can get support to enhance their independent living skills. The advantage of attending a college is that there is a wide range of course available and have more independence.

Students will still continue to have the support outlined in their EHC Plan.

We strive to ensure our students progress and leave as young adults who are as independent as possible, at home, in the community and potentially in the work place. We aim to facilitate opportunities to enable our students to participate actively and make meaningful contributions to their local communities and wider society. Our aim is to ensure that every young person with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) is given the opportunity to lead a positive and fulfilled adult life. We want our students to develop excellent independence and self-advocacy skills to ensure they have maximised and appropriate control over the decisions they will be required to make in adulthood, whilst also being able to identify when they may need to request support.
